Country living in the heart of Surrey - Located just 2 miles from the beautiful village of Banstead and set on the outskirts of the thriving town of Epsom, Juniper Place is perfectly positioned to enjoy the Surrey countryside whilst having everything you will ever need on the doorstep!
A village feel
The settlement of Banstead appears in the Domesday Book as Benestede, derived from the Anglo Saxon words bene, meaning bean, and stede, meaning place. It remained a small village until the 19th century when the improved roads and rail links led to its growth.
Despite this, Banstead still retains a village feel today and has a number of buildings of historical interest, including the parish church - with its sturdy tower and medieval spire - and The Old Well, a public well used by the people in the village until the arrival of pumped water.
Local shops include M&S Simply Food, Waitrose and Boots the Chemist, plus a variety of restaurants and coffee shops. If you prefer the 'town feel', Epsom is where you'll want to be. The Ashley Centre with over 50 high street and independent retailers include Marks & Spencer, Waitrose and the House of Fraser. There are also monthly farmers’ markets for all to enjoy.
For entertainment, in addition to the 8-screen Odeon cinema, there is also the well-known Epsom Playhouse – a varied programme of events include Opera, Dance, Drama, Comedy, Jazz, Variety and children's shows, as well as a regular film season.
The world’s greatest flat race
The town of Epsom originally became famous for its mineral water but is now synonymous with the world of racing and in particular ‘The Derby' – first run in 1781 – recognised as the world's greatest flat race. The Derby festival, held over the first weekend in June, attracts the largest one day sporting crowd in excess of 125,000 who, year upon year descend upon the picturesque Surrey racecourse to be part of something very special.
In the summer months Epsom Live also offers evening racing followed by a live outdoor concert at dusk, set against the beautiful backdrop of Epsom Downs.
You are certainly well placed here if you like golf – there are no fewer than 18 golf courses within 5 miles of Banstead - and if you don’t want to spoil a good walk there are numerous other opportunities to enjoy the local countryside. These include Banstead and Perrotts Woods nature reserves, covering over 500 acres, where you'll also find the Nork Park Estate with its exotic arboretum.
Horseriding is naturally another popular pursuit locally, with many riding schools in the area and if you can’t manage to reach the Parade Ring at Epsom there is no shortage of bridleways.
Juniper Place is ideally situated for easy access to the motorway network, just 10 minutes from Junction 8 of the M25. In addition, the local railway stations at Banstead and Epsom provide regular train services to London and beyond.
There is also an excellent local bus service linking the village with Epsom, Sutton and Croydon, while for travelling further afield both Gatwick and Heathrow airports are less than 20 miles away.
