Where is Worcester Park?
Well, to avoid common confusion, it’s not in Worcestershire and has nothing to do with Worcester – apart from the name being taken from the 4th Earl of Worcester, who was appointed keeper of the Great Park, when the area was a vast deer park around the time of Henry VIII.
Worcester Park is actually a suburban town in South West London, sitting north of Epsom and Sutton, South of Wimbledon and just 6 miles East of Hampton Court – if you want to keep an historical feel to the area.
Local shops and pubs
However, today this is a busy suburb, like many others, with all the usual array of independent shops, as well as a Waitrose and Sainsbury’s Local. Boots the Chemist, WH Smith and Pizza Express are all there, plus the main High Street banks - and naturally there’s no shortage of coffee shops!
If you have ay oung family then The Ranch ‘soft-play’ and dining area (part of Broncos BBQ) is a regular haunt, while for more sophistication, The Brook Pub & Eating House is a popular venue at the bottom of the high street, located just along from the station.
The Clevelands is situated in a substantial secluded plot, a little more than a mile from the high street – just a long stroll down The ‘tree-lined’ Avenue. Excellent schools close by include Malden Parochial C of E Primary, Cheam Common Infants and Junior Schools and Linden Bridge School together with the much respected Richard Challoner (Boys) School and Tolworth Girls School.
Parks and relaxation
There is plenty of parkland in the area – including Cheam & Nonsuch Park and Mayflower Park, which are home to a wide variety of birds and wildlife. Head just a mile west from The Clevelands, beyond the Hogsmill River and you’ll find sports grounds and open fields, as well as the little gem of The River Club – for tennis, swimming and fitness classes, with some relaxation time to follow.
The homes at The Clevelands
The architectural design of the 4 new homes here will offer something to suit every lifestyle. There are sizeable kitchens with separate utility to cope with modern household demands, while the large living rooms all benefit from bi-fold doors opening onto a patio, with good sized rear gardens – perfect for reading the weekend papers or firing up the barbecue.
A separate dining room conjures up more formal occasions, while another ground floor reception room offers the chance to escape for more private space for work or pleasure.
Each home has four spacious bedrooms (one with ensuite), plus family bathroom and downstairs cloakroom, which offers comfortable living space for families with children, or for those hosting regular visits by extended families with grandchildren in tow.
Perfect for London commutes
However, if you still need the hustle and bustle of London – for work or pleasure - then Worcester Park is just a 30 minute train journey to Waterloo – a direct train and only in Travelcard Zone 4. The M25 (Junction 9) is approximately 20 minutes by car, while Gatwick Airport can be reached in around 40 minutes. Worcester, of course, is a little further!
