SKYLARK PLACE

Badshot Lea is a popular village located between Farnham and Aldershot on the western edge of Surrey, close to the A31 and A331 for easy access to London. The village has a number of local shops, a popular infant school (Badshot Lea Village Infant School), St Georges Church, two traditional pubs (The Cricketers and The Crown) and the well regarded Squires Garden Centre with its newly refurbished Pets & Aquatics centre and a new pottery painting studio.

Skylark Place is named after a small bird who is an occasional visitor to Tice's Meadow, considered to be one of the best inland sites to watch birds in the South-East of England and just a stone's throw from our development.

Hops History

For local events and activities, the heart of the village is at the Village Hall – also known as The Kiln. Situated in St George’s Road, opposite Skylark Place, the Kiln, built in 1886, was part of the important agricultural history of the area, where the hops were dried before being transferred to a local brewery. Activities here today are more varied and the Kiln is now home to various clubs and societies including Dog Training, Photography, Dance, Keep-Fit and the Leapfrog Nursery.

There is access from Skylark Place to the playing field behind the development, where football and cricket are played as well as a tennis club. Just a few minutes drive away you will find Packhouse, a 400-year old ex-Hop Kiln, selling vintage, antique and one-off buys ranging from furniture and interior finishing touches to gifts and fashion accessories.

Schools & Shops

In addition to the local village school there are many other schools nearby including William Cobbett Primary School and a choice of good secondary options including Farnham Heath End and All Hallows Catholic School. You will also find Farnham 6th Form College and the University of Creative Arts in Farnham — formerly known as Farnham School of Art, which dates back as far as 1886.

For shopping options, Sainsbury’s supermarket is just over a mile away, with further options in Farnham, where there is also a good selection of restaurants, bars and cafes. Leisure facilities include Farnham Park Golf Course and the David Lloyd Gym, Pool, Spa and Leisure Centre.

Castle & Country Charm

The charming Georgian market town of Farnham, with its quaint, narrow streets and many listed buildings, is crowned by the wonderful Farnham Castle. Other highlights include The Maltings Cultural Centre which combines with various galleries, events and exhibitions to maintain a lively and artistic atmosphere.

The other highlight of this area is the region itself – a perfect place to combine town and country living with the tranquility of parks, woods and open countryside for walking, as well as numerous golf courses and other sports for more strenuous exercise, although still never too far from a country village pub or historic town.

Transport Choices

When it comes to transport Badshot Lea is very well connected. There is a choice of mainline stations (Aldershot 7mins, Ash 11mins and Farnham 12mins from Skylark Place) taking you to London Waterloo, Reading or Gatwick in less than an hour. Meanwhile, by car you can be on the A31 (Farnham by-pass) to the South in 5 minutes. Just 14 minutes away is Junction 4 of the M3, via the A331.
